Sonatina by Rodney Newton for Martin Smith - All Saints, Hove 12th October 2023
Sonatina for Euphonium and Piano by Rodney Newton written for me with Pavane, Sarabande and Gigue Irlandaise as the three movements. The excellent Rachel Fryer is accompanying me. Performed at the church that Ralph Vaughan Williams was married for the first time.
I’ll bid my heart be still. Rebecca Clarke arr. David Robb
I’ll Bid My Heart Be Still was on old Scottish border melody composed in 1944 by Rebecca Clarke originally for viola and piano.
I’ve used this a number of times in recitals arranged by David Robb and linked it in a humorous way to my own struggles with Atrial Fibrillation (AF). This recital was at the the lovely 18th Century Chapel Royal, Brighton.
